Greg and Jolie Willis have played the affectionate role of "Abbot" and "Abbess" since the origin of Oak Grove Abbey in January 2004.  After ministering in a local church setting for 15 years, Greg and Jolie experienced a profound stirring to uproot, move their family to Texas, and embed themselves in the unique wonderland known as Central Austin.

Greg and Jolie prioritize forming relationships outside the traditional church setting through jobs and interrelated networks of friends.  They see their primary role as an incarnational presence, representing Christ in a world that has lost interest in Christendom.  Along the way, they attempt to develop small faith clusters with their peers.

Giving leadership to the Abbey, Greg and Jolie try to create a family environment in which true imitation of Christ is formed.  By actively sharing space under one roof, the members of the community learn much about themselves, others and the Way of Jesus.  In this way, each member is sent out into the world each day with purpose and an ongoing desire to deepen relationships.

Oak Grove Abbey is located in downtown Austin within historic Old Enfield, about 2 miles from the University of Texas campus.

We are within walking distance to restaurants, cafes, shopping, and UT Shuttle and Capital Metro bus stops.

The home was originally built in 1937 and has been restored to meet the needs of the Abbey. There are 6 bedrooms & 4 bathrooms with common kitchen, living, & dining areas. Features also include a large courtyard, deck, & solarium. We also have a band rehearsal / movie viewing space that was converted from the garage.
